Camberwell Fair’s Summer Series has been created for local communities to enjoy live music safely and for free. All performances will take place on Camberwell Green from 3pm until 6pm. So join us, bring a picnic blanket, take a seat and enjoy the best live music that celebrates the vibrant and diverse cultures of Camberwell.

  • SAT 4 SEP: ARTISTS IN RESIDENCE

    The Camberwell Fair Artists in Residence take over the Summer Series. for this edition.

    Artists & Mentors K.O.G., Tawiah, Gaika and Shirley Tetteh have been working with 12 emerging artists as part of the programme supported by PRS Foundation’s The Open Fund to test new ideas, collaborate and develop their practice.

    Emerging artists Bad Honey, Winnie, Tee Peters, Lewis Daniel, Adae, Kiah, Dan Amare, Toraigh Watson, Timalka, Adannay, Rozsa and Sage Nolan will take to the stage to perform new work – this is one is not to missed! South East London legend Joe Milli will close the party with a mix of afro, soul, house, funk and grime.

  • SAT 11 SEP: THE HEATWAVE vs TASH LC x FEHDAH

    Having toured throughout the UK and performed internationally in Europe, Canada, USA, India, Australia and Jamaica The Heatwave’s explosive soundsystem shows have been a regular fixture at Notting Hill Carnival over the last 10 years, playing on trucks, soundsystems and local afterparties. Their notorious Hot Wuk party is one of the UK’s longest-running dancehall events, their dancehall mixes have had over two million Soundcloud streams and they have held down the only dedicated dancehall show on Rinse FM since 2009.

    In little time London based artist Tash LC has established herself as an assured DJ, host and presenter across radio and club. Tash finds herself at home on the airwaves with residencies on Kiss FM and Worldwide FM, balancing highly palatable afro-jazz and highlife broadcasts with more up-tempo meetings of Kuduro, Gqom, and esoteric club sounds. With the backing of some of dance music’s most influential institutions and an effortless ability to command a dance floor, Tash is quickly becoming one of the UK’s most exciting new talents.

    Spiritual daughter of Erykah Badu and Oumou Sangare, Fehdah is a future-afro soul vocalist, producer and multi-instrumentalist, on the frontline of an emerging Irish hiphop and electronic music scene. An eclectic songwriter who draws on her love of Wassoulou music in forging an entirely new take on electro-soul.

  • SAT 18 SEP: THE DYLEMA COLLECTIVE

    Closing the Summer Series on Camberwell Green are The Dylema Collective! A talented collective of musicians put together by female lead, Dylema that blend contemporary Jazz, Poetry and Soulful harmonies. The band was put together in 2016 and since then they have created orgasmic, soul and enriching experiences that make your brain and booty dance.

  • SAT 14 AUG: SISTER COOKIE

    Kicking off the series will be Sister Cookie with her dynamite sound and dose of funk-soul-blues medicine on Saturday 14 August. Having scooped the prestigious Record Store Day Unsigned 2020 award, Sister Cookie is a startling soulful vocal talent, who skips effortlessly from rock ‘n roll and rhythm and blues to jazz and back again.

    A mainstay on the vintage Soul & R’n’R circuit since 2013, playing at Latitude, Red Rooster, Port Elliot and touring across Europe with her band, the last 18 months have seen her pick up plays from Craig Charles at 6Music, Resonance, Jazz FM, appear in the '50 Women in Blues' book in 2019 and host her own regular Boogalloo Radio show, along with a recent interview with Robert Elms on BBC London. She’s performed at some of the UK’s most esteemed venues including the 100 Club and Union Chapel, The Round Chapel and has enjoyed a number of stints as a guest vocalist with The Soulful Orchestra, Jim Jones & The Righteous Mind, Future Shape Of Sound & MFC Chicken.

  • SAT 21 AUG: GRUPO LOKITO

    Taking to the stage with a modern-day cocktail of music fusing Congolese grooves with the fire of Cuban music will be Grupo Lokito. Don’t miss the glorious melodious vocals of Congolese front men Eugene Makuta and Iddo Donnatella, soaring guitars courtesy of Congolese guitar hero Mbokalia, rhythmic grooves from Shyam and the lilting keyboards of Latin piano player Sara. All of this sits on top of the rhythmic powerhouse team of Ernesto (drums), Emeris (Congas) and Elpidio (bass) – they have been wowing audiences across festivals and the club circuit alike with their blistering grooves and outlandish dance moves.

    Since their formation in 2006 the band have gone from strength to strength, completing several UK tours and building a solid following.

  • SAT 28 AUG: WHEELUP x TIAWA x CHIMINYO

    Up-and-coming singer-songwriter/MC Tiawa who’s distinctive, laidback vocals blend melodies and neo-soul sensibilities with raw storytelling and thought-provoking lyricism. Her debut album ‘Moonlit Train’ is a conceptual record that maps a metaphorical train journey from relationships through to healing and liberation. Gently easing between soul, 90s hip-hop and Latin-folk that harks back to her Portuguese heritage, the inspiration for the LP comes from the rebellious spirit of reggae, the pace of lyricism in reggaeton, and the romanticism of doo-wop.

    WheelUP is West London’s broken beat revivalist, producer, DJ and Balamii resident – Danny Wheeler. Influenced by the likes of Duke Ellington, Quincy Jones, LTJ Bukem, Krust and Kaidi Tatham, Danny has cemented the WheelUP name as part of the new school of bruk – garnering approval from respected radio and club DJs such as Gilles Peterson, Toddla T, Mary Anne Hobbs, Ben UFO, Bonobo, Laurent Garnier and more.

    Critically acclaimed Drummer and producer from North London Chiminyo’s sound has been described by Clash Magazine as “a startling inventive percussive workout”. His high-tech heavy drum kit set-up, combines the raw, immediate, live sound of percussion and the futuristic timbres of his electronic productions to create his own daring and idiosyncratic soundworld.
